Google AI Workshop: Aim high with Gemini session 2 - UMTers enhance their AI skills for academic and professional success
From searching for and synthesizing information for academic research to developing work plans and preparing for job interviews, artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly integrated into various aspects of students’ academic and professional lives. However, for AI to serve as a truly effective assistant, the key lies not in using a wide range of tools, but in selecting and leveraging the right AI solutions strategically to achieve specific objectives and maximize their effectiveness
From searching for and synthesizing information for academic research to developing work plans and preparing for job interviews, artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly integrated into various aspects of students’ academic and professional lives. However, for AI to serve as a truly effective assistant, the key lies not in using a wide range of tools, but in selecting and leveraging the right AI solutions to achieve specific objectives effectively.

This was also the focus of Google AI Workshop: Aim High with Gemini – Session 2, jointly organized at UMT by the Business Faculty's Communication Club (iCREAL) and Gemini Academy for Student (Google).

Throughout the workshop, UMT students had the opportunity to explore and gain hands-on experience with Google's AI ecosystem through practical scenarios relevant to their studies and future careers. Using Gemini Chat, Deep Research, and NotebookLM, students explored how AI-powered tools can facilitate information retrieval, synthesis, and analysis, supporting academic assignments, scientific research projects, and graduation theses.

The workshop also highlighted the potential of AI to enhance personal productivity through the integration of Gemini into Google Workspace. From drafting professional emails and developing work plans to managing tasks and customizing Gems for interview preparation, students gained practical insights into how AI can be tailored to their individual needs and applied to everyday academic and professional activities.
A key highlight of the event was the interactive discussion with Google Career Certificates Mentors, who shared practical perspectives on applying AI in professional settings. The session also provided students with an opportunity to engage directly with industry mentors, raise questions, and gain a deeper understanding of the competencies required to navigate an increasingly AI-driven workforce.
Through hands-on engagement with these AI-powered tools, UMT students strengthened their foundational knowledge and practical skills, empowering them to integrate emerging technologies more effectively into their academic pursuits and future career development.

The workshop concluded with valuable learning experiences and memorable moments, reflecting UMT's continued commitment to providing students with opportunities to explore emerging technologies, develop essential digital competencies, and prepare for the evolving demands of the professional world.
