Abstract:Vietnam’s response to the global pandemic was characterized by decisive action and the implementation of effective public health measures. The country successfully navigated two major waves of infection, implementing rigorous containment measures and subsequently transitioning to a strategy of “Safe adaptation, flexibility, and effective control”. Furthermore, Vietnam had administered 266.5 million vaccine doses, which represents one of the highest global vaccination rates. The success of Vietnam’s pandemic response can be attributed to several factors, including the proactive actions of the government, the implementation of stringent public health measures, and the effectiveness of communication strategies. Despite initial difficulties in encouraging people to take up the vaccine, comprehensive public education and the use of multimedia resources resulted in high levels of vaccine acceptance. This chapter focuses on Vietnam’s case study in risk communication during the COVID-19 pandemic, which highlights the importance of government leadership, clear communication, and public engagement in managing public health crises. The government’s consistent and adaptive risk communication strategies played a critical role in building public trust and compliance throughout the pandemic.
